The 2025 Prinsloo Sevens kicked off with high-octane rugby action and lively entertainment at the Nakuru Athletics Club, drawing one of the largest crowds in recent years during day one of the tournament.

Hundreds of rugby fans gathered to cheer on their favorite teams and soak in the vibrant atmosphere that has come to define the tournament. With a mix of fierce competition and festive energy, Day One delivered on every front.

On the pitch, eight teams emerged from the pool stages to qualify for Sunday’s Main Cup quarter-finals. Kenya Harlequins topped their group with three wins, including a thrilling 15–12 victory over hosts Nakuru RFC.

Their quarter-final opponent will be Nakuru RFC, who, despite losing to Harlequins, advanced after victories over Stallions Rugby and MSC Rugby.

KCB Rugby posted the strongest performance of the day, winning all their matches in overwhelming fashion.

They crushed Kisumu RFC 48 - 0 and Nondescripts 52 -0  and beat Catholic Monks in a more balanced match . They now face Kabras Sugar in what promises to be one of the most physical and intense quarter-final ties.
