Events happening in Nakuru this weekend.
The beat drops, the lights flare and the crowd roars — this is the moment that Nakuru has been waiting for! The city is gearing up for a weekend where nostalgia meets electric energy, and Matonya, Avril, Mr Nice and Jua Cali will take to the stage once again to perform their timeless anthems and bring an unforgettable night of East African music to life.
While the Ol’Skool Reunion is undoubtedly the highlight, there is plenty more to enjoy in Nakuru, from kids' camps and live band nights to rugby matches and relaxed Sunday getaways. It's set to be a weekend where everyone can find their spark.
Parents looking to combine fun, faith and adventure for their children need look no further than Trinity Chapel Nakuru's Quest Kid Venture camp, running from November 17 to 21 from 9am to 4pm. It's a high-energy, wholesome space packed with Bible study, sports, arts and crafts, singing and dancing — the kind of activities that leave kids happy for days.
But when the sun sets on Friday, Nakuru shifts gear.
First up are the music lovers, with Tamasha Band taking over Emboita Hotels on Friday 21 from 8pm. Renowned for their vibrant performances and soulful vocals, Tamasha promises a night of rhythm, charm, and pure musical sparkle — perfect for unwinding after a long week.
If you think fun means laughter, banter and a bit of friendly competition, Kijani Kafe is the place for you. Their Game Night on Friday 21 from 6pm to 10pm features F1 and EPL trivia. With free entry and happy hour deals, it's a relaxed, lively evening for anyone who wants a good atmosphere without the loud scenes.
Then comes Saturday, the main event. The Reunion: Ol’Skool Bongo vs. Kenya Edition, which will be held at Nakuru Golf Club on 22 November, will bring back East Africa’s golden era of music with an all-star line-up.
Tanzania’s Matonya and Mr Nice will share the stage with Kenya’s Avril and Jua Cali for a night packed with nostalgia, dance and iconic performances. The event has an all-white dress code and is one of the most hotly anticipated shows in Nakuru this month. Early bird tickets cost Sh1,500, while tickets bought at the gate cost Sh2,000.
Sports fans won't be disappointed either, as the 2025/26 Kenya Cup season kicks off on the same day. Menengai Oilers will host Daystar Falcons at The Refinery Grounds from 4pm, marking the start of their campaign in front of a vibrant home crowd. With entry costing just Sh200, expect big tackles, fast runs and the familiar Nakuru rugby atmosphere.
And for those who prefer to end their weekend on a more relaxed note, the Nakuru Social Club has a tranquil Sunday getaway planned. Their trip to the Geothermal Spa in Naivasha on November 23, which includes transport, lunch and entry fees, offers the perfect way to unwind after a lively weekend.
