As August begins, Nakuru is bursting with life, offering a weekend of entertainment for all. From soulful music and inspiring youth performances to hard-hitting rugby and expressive art, the city is ready to provide locals and visitors with an unforgettable experience.

The weekend begins tonight with a karaoke night at the Merica Hotel. Hosted by Jasmine Jose, this lively evening in the Terrace Lounge promises fun, music and nostalgia. Starting at 6 pm, guests can take to the stage, belt out their favourite songs, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere filled with laughter and music.

On August 2 and 3, the spotlight shifts to Nakuru Athletic Club (NAC), where rugby fans won't want to miss out. Wanyore will be hosting the Prinsloo Sevens, and this year's tournament is particularly special as NAC celebrates 100 years of rugby excellence.

The games promise thrilling action, passionate fans and a festive atmosphere that will bring the community together.

Also on Saturday, the Youth Explosion Concert and Cultural Arts Competition 2025 will bring high energy to Nakuru West Secondary School. Organised by the Sharon Wiles Foundation, this all-day event showcases youth creativity through dance, drama, poetry and chess.

There will be performances from gospel stars Guardian Angel, Moji Short Babaa and Jamaican gospel-reggae artist Wayne Stoddart. Dr Sharon Wiles will host the event alongside MC Willy Favor, Minister Faith Nduhiu and Grace Mamboleo.

Later that evening, theatre lovers can enjoy “Mistaken Identity” at Nakuru Town Hall. Written and directed by Ngugi Martin, the play tells the powerful story of a rural man’s search for a better life in the city, which leads to unexpected consequences. The show begins at 6.30 pm and entry is free.

Relax and recharge on Sunday, August 3 with Paint & Sip at Hotel Waterbuck, open from 11am to 5pm. This event is ideal for families and friends and offers a calm, creative space in which to paint, sip and enjoy the arts under the guidance of a professional.

Then, from 2 pm to 6 pm, head to the Avangi 2.0 Live Experience at Baraza Media Lab. Expect bold fashion, fresh music, spoken word pieces and vibrant street culture, all in one place. It's the perfect way to end a weekend celebrating Nakuru's talent and creativity.

Throughout the weekend, top DJs will be playing cool music in your favourite entertainment venues.

From the mic to the rugby pitch and the stage to the canvas, Nakuru will be alive with energy this weekend, and everyone is invited to join in the fun.
