From Bangladesh to Nyayo Gardens: here's what's hot this weekend

Although Nakuru's weekend is starting off slowly, with just a few events lined up, there's still plenty to stir up the city's lively mood.

The Barn BBQ & Lounge in Bangladesh is the place to be on Friday night, with Thigitha Fridays lighting up the evening with live music from the ever-vibrant DJ Dibul. For just Sh300 at the door, revellers can dance the night away to hot mixes and kick off their weekend with a bang.

Alternatively, for those leaning towards civic engagement rather than nightlife, the Chukua Kura Concert at Nyayo Gardens is a free event designed to empower citizens through voter registration.

Organised by Tribeless Youth, Midrift Hurinet and the IEBC, the concert fuses art and activism, featuring DJs, artistes, spoken word, puppetry and trivia, while also giving attendees the chance to register, transfer or verify their voter details.

It's entertainment with a purpose, blending music, youthful energy, and civic responsibility in a refreshing way.
Saturday was set to feature the highly anticipated KigooCo Festival Reloaded at Kunste Grounds, but the organisers have announced a postponement due to the unexpected passing of a cherished member of the KigooCo community. In a heartfelt message, they expressed their gratitude for the community’s unwavering support and promised to share a new date soon.

Nevertheless, the weekend spirit lives on. Travellers can join Nakulink Safaris on November 15 and 16 for an adventurous two-day road trip through Kericho, Iten, Marigat, and Eldoret. This scenic expedition offers the perfect blend of travel, connection and discovery for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and explore Kenya’s highlands.

Meanwhile, on November 15, Trinity Chapel Nakuru will host the Glow Ladies Breakfast, November Edition from 7am to 10am. This Thanksgiving-themed gathering is the final ladies' fellowship of the year and invites women to reflect, worship and give thanks under the theme “Thank You, Lord”.

Entry is just Sh250, and the dress code is your favourite colour, a warm and cheerful way to celebrate faith and friendship!

As the city winds down, Nakuru's entertainment venues won't be silent either. DJs will be performing across town with Genge star Mejja is also expected to make an appearance.

Even on a quieter weekend, Nakuru proves one thing: the city never really goes quiet. Tupatane on the next plug.
