Viral photos show Governor Kihika back in Nakuru after months of speculation

Governor Susan Kihika is back!
In a Facebook post, dated April 25,2025, she wrote, “Was deeply humbled and honoured to receive a warm visit from my dear friends who came to welcome me home and celebrate the arrival of my twin babies,” read part of the message.
In some of the photos shared, you can spot her enjoying light-hearted moments with her friends.
For the better part of five months, the Governor had made headlines after being noticeably absent from the public eye.
Concerns over her absence begun during the Christmas season.
As is tradition, she and the First Gentleman usually hand out holiday goodies to residents at their home in Ngata. But this time, she was noticeably missing, sparking speculation and questions.
As the new year rolled in, Ms Kihika was nowhere to be seen. What started as whispers about her whereabouts quickly turned into a public outcry, with Nakuru residents eager to know where she was.
On January 18, a press statement was finally issued, informing the public that the Governor was on maternity leave.
You’d think that would calm things down—but instead, it stirred up even more controversy. Many wondered why it took public pressure to prompt an official explanation.
Soon after, rumours began circulating that she had travelled abroad to give birth.
This speculation intensified when photos of her with Millicent Omanga—who serves on the Board of Directors at Kenya Shipyards Limited—surfaced online, causing quite a stir among Nakuru residents.
Mambo yalichemka at this point.
Enter Eng. Kimori Evans, a concerned Nakuru resident who took things up a notch by petitioning the Nakuru County Assembly to address the Governor’s prolonged absence.
He went as far as writing a letter to President Trump (yes, that Trump) requesting the "deportation" of Susan Kihika back to Kenya.
Amid the petitions and open letters, a bigger question emerged: Who was really in charge of the County Government? Some alleged that the County Secretary had taken over, while others claimed the Deputy Governor was merely a placeholder with no real authority.
They say when you back someone into a corner, they’ll push back. The calm and composed Deputy Governor, who we’ve come to know over time, revealed his more assertive side—firmly defending the County Government and assuring the public that everything was running smoothly.
His bold response quieted things down… but only for a while.
Then, photos of Susan and the First Gentleman cradling two bundles of joy surfaced—and the conversation took another twist.
Some of the comments you guys posted under those photos? Let’s just say you took dark humour to a whole new level—but ni sawa tu.
Now, she’s back.
Nakuru, what are your thoughts?
