When David Ng’ang’a, a boda boda operator picked up a client from an entertainment joint in Nakuru CBD on June 13, he thought it was any other client.
Unknown to him, a plot to rob him and steal his motorbike was brewing.
Speaking to Mtaa Wangu, a visibly disturbed David says before the journey began, the client had handed him a phone, asking him to talk to someone on the other end and get details on where he would be dropped. It was around 8.40 pm.
“The man on the call wanted me to drop his ‘friend’ in Milimani near the Alps Hotel. He also said he would be the one to pay the fare. As this seemed normal, I agreed and off we went,” David narrates.

David Ng’ang’a, a boda boda operator from Free Area narrates his horrifying ordeal where he was attacked by three men on June 13,2025.
While nearing Alps Hotel, David says the client pointed out to a man standing under a mulika mwizi, a few meters from the hotel. The two then stopped next to the man, and the process to pay David via M-Pesa ensued.
“I had only keyed in ‘07’ in his phone when the client I was carrying grabbed me by the neck and started strangling me. Shortly after, a third man came from the bush wielding a panga. One of them told the other to stab me with a knife and finish me off. I pleaded with them and they spared me. Together they carried me to a bush where they tied me up with a rope and gagged me with duct tape,” David says.
Once the trio left with the motorbike, the 37-year-old notes that he managed to free his legs and sought help. Fortunately, he met a passer-by who heard his story and gave him Sh200 to help him get home.
“I was able to record a statement at Milimani Police Post, where they gave me an OB number and referred me to Central Police Station. I visited Central Police Station and recorded my statement on Saturday (June 14) and got another OB number,” he notes.
To his shock, the police officer manning Central Police Station reporting desk was one of the robbers. In specific, the man who was standing under the street light.
More shocking was that when David followed the police officer outside, he also met the ‘client’ wearing the same jacket he had won on the day of the traumatizing ordeal, within Central police station grounds.
Disturbed, David sought audience with the OCS Mr Samuel Chebii on Tuesday June 17 to share his findings.
"The OCS brushed off my claims and asked me to wait outside his office but never attended to me. To date (June 18), I have not received any update on my case. I fear for my life since the officers are aware that I can identify them. I just want them to return my motorbike," he says, noting it was his only source of income.
David reveals he acquired the motorbike on loan in October 2022 and had just cleared Sh 275,000 payment on February 2025.
CCTV footage in Mtaa Wangu’s possession shows David arriving at the entertainment lounge at 8:30 p.m. and leaving with the client at 8:46 p.m.
