Rider charged with possessing suspected stolen motorcycle after failing to prove ownership

A Nakuru court on Friday charged a motorcycle rider with conveying a stolen property after he failed to prove how he acquired it.

The accused, Forester Otieno, who appeared before the court was alleged to have been found in possession of the motorcycle suspected to have been stolen at Jua Kali area in Rhonda Estate, Nakuru West Sub -County, Nakuru County on June 21,2026,

According to the prosecution, the motorcycle is believed to have been stolen, although investigators have not yet established where it was stolen from or identified its rightful owner.

The court heard that police officers intercepted the suspect and detained him after he failed to give a satisfactory account of how he had acquired the motorcycle.

The prosecution said investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the motorcycle and whether it is linked to any reported theft cases.

When the charge was read to him, Otieno pleaded not guilty.

The court granted him a bond of Sh 50,000 with an alternative cash bail of Sh 30,000 pending the hearing and determination of the case.

The case will be mentioned on July 8.
