Governor Susan Kihika's supporters term Wahome Thuku's online post 'misleading'

New claims by lawyer cum blogger Wahome Thuku regarding Governor Susan Kihika’s absence have sparked outrage among the supporters and residents of Nakuru.
While the county has issued formal communication indicating the governor is away on a maternity leave in the United States, the blogger has painted a different narrative claiming the governor is unwell.
In his Facebook page posted at 7 am Wednesday, the blogger dismissed the official communication from the county and the statement from the Women leaders caucus and instead argued that the governor was hoodwinking Kenyans with sickness while she was extremely unwell.
The women legislators in their joint statement on Tuesday had defended Governor Kihika’ s absence while calling upon Kenyans to empathize with her as she recuperates in the US after delivering twins.
As women leaders in Kenya we stand here today in solidarity with Governor Susan Kihika, a dedicated public servant and a mother who has recently welcomed twins into the world. We congratulate her on the birth of her children,” stated the leaders.
But in a twist of events, Mr Thuku whose roots are from Nakuru county termed this a concocted narrative that is meant to mislead the public who have been demanding for the return of the governor .
His statement however has attracted a heated reaction especially from the governor’s supporters who have accused him of spreading falsehood.
One Martin Okere reacted by terming the statement by Mr Thuku a political propaganda meant to tarnish the reputation of the governor.
He emphasized on the need to refrain from unnecessary attacks but rather focus on what her administration has been able to deliver for the residents.
“To suggest that she has been absent is to ignore the tangible results her government has delivered. Leadership is not about making noise but about impact, and Governor Kihika’s work speaks for itself,” stated Mr Okere.
Another supporter Sammy Ngatia urged the public to ignore the blogger whose claims, he says, cannot be substantiated.
Other supporters faulted the blogger for being too insensitive on the matter.
However, others questioned why the governor had to go for maternity abroad instead of improving facilities in the county.
Others also casted doubts over the pregnancy wondering why it was never noticed in public.
John Ngigi argued that her travelling abroad to seek for health services points to lack of confidence in the local facilities.
“But she couldn't seek health services in Nakuru PGH. This shows the level of incompetence in this country. This is clear indication that our doctors, our public and private hospitals are not capable of delivering quality health,” stated Mr Ngigi.
