"Where is Governor Susan Kihika?" Nakuru residents lament

Dear Governor Susan Kihika,

It has been some time since you were last seen in public, and your absence has not gone unnoticed.

Over the Christmas period, residents expected you to continue your usual tradition of sharing the festive season with them, especially at your home in Rongai, alongside the First Gentleman.

In both the year 2022 and 2023, you graciously shared pictures of these celebrations to show the festive spirit, but sadly they did not see the same gesture last year.

Instead, the only message we received from you on New Year's Day was a short post on Facebook, urging Nakuru residents to reflect on the progress they'd made together and to renew their commitment to building a prosperous, united and thriving Nakuru.

The last time you were seen in public was on November 18, 2024, when you presided over the graduation of over 4,100 graduates from 33 vocational training centres in Nakuru County.

The most significant event that followed was the flagging off of a medical consignment on December 20, 2024 that was done by the Deputy Governor.

Your absence has sparked criticism among residents and some, like Willie Oeba, have openly questioned your whereabouts.

"Governor Susan Kihika has been running the county's affairs in absentia. Since November, the governor has been running Nakuru through Google Meet. Ndio maana own source revenue ya Nakuru imeshuka by half," he wrote on his X account.

While we appreciate the efforts of your communications team in posting Bible verses, sending greetings and maintaining a digital presence, the electorate wants more than just 'kutuma salamu'.

Governor, your constituents want more. Not just in words, but in action.

Yours sincerely,

The people of Nakuru.
