The third edition of the Nakuru Universities and Colleges Basketball League concluded its regular season on Saturday, with teams delivering thrilling performances as they fought for a coveted spot in the upcoming playoffs.

Kabarak University and Rift Valley National Polytechnic (RVNP) currently top the men’s standings with 38 points each, guaranteeing both teams a place in the playoffs.

KITI Titans, who are competing in this year's competition for the first time, have proven to be formidable contenders, finishing third with 31 points. Meanwhile, the Nakuru Basketball Association (NBA), the underdogs of this season's competition, secured fourth place, completing the line-up of playoff contenders.

The women’s league mirrors the men’s, with Kabarak Royals and RVNP Ladies tied at the top with 27 points apiece.

To conclude the regular season, the RVNP Ladies faced the Kabarak Royals in a highly anticipated Moi Derby classic. It was a closely contested match, with both teams trading baskets throughout.

In a dramatic finale, RVNP’s Mary Mutua sank a three-pointer in the dying seconds to secure a 25–24 victory and dash Kabarak’s hopes of finishing the season undefeated.

League officials are expected to confirm the final standings next week, after which the official playoff bracket will be released, setting the stage for an intense postseason showdown.
