Industry growth and transformation: Hush BK reflects on his decade long creative journey
Boniface Kinya alias Hush BK was a secular artist until he got saved in 2024.
For a decade, Boniface Kinya Gitau, popularly known as Hush BK, has built a career around music, marketing, influencing and emceeing, and now he is marking the journey with a celebration that reflects not only his achievements but also his transformation and faith.
Hush BK will celebrate 10 years in the entertainment industry on Sunday, with the event bringing together artists, friends, corporate partners and other people who have been part of his journey.
Although he says he has been active in the industry for about 12 to 13 years, he considers the past decade a significant period in which he has grown his brand while working across different areas of the entertainment and creative industry.
According to Hush BK, the celebration is about recognising the resilience, hard work and creativity that have defined his journey, particularly in marketing, influencing, corporate emceeing and music.
“It is a celebration of me and my resilience in those 10 years, the hard work and creativity. The journey has allowed me to explore different spaces within the entertainment industry,” he says.
The celebration will also mark another chapter in his music career, with Hush BK set to launch his gospel album, Through Him, during the event.
The album comes as part of his new journey in gospel music following his decision to leave secular music and nightclub entertainment and dedicate his life to Christ.
Hush BK says he got saved on March 13, 2024, at 6pm at AIC Shabab, describing the moment as something he felt had been long overdue.
His transition to gospel music has since seen him release Mwendo, his first gospel song after beginning his salvation journey, with the song available on YouTube.
Beyond music, Hush BK has also been using his public presence to create spaces for spiritual reflection through his weekly Worship Call initiative.
Every Wednesday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, the initiative brings worship into public spaces, inviting passersby to pause from their daily routines, reflect and reconnect with their faith.
For Hush BK, the initiative is part of his desire to use the platforms he has built over the years for a purpose beyond entertainment.
His journey, however, has not been without change. From working as a secular musician and nightclub MC to becoming a gospel artist and using public spaces for worship, Hush BK says his experiences have shaped the person he is today.
The celebration will therefore bring together different aspects of his journey, including entertainment, music, corporate emceeing, influencing and his Christian faith.
The event, will feature performances by various gospel artists.
For Hush BK, the milestone is less about simply counting the years and more about recognising what the years have produced, a journey of persistence, creativity, professional growth and, ultimately, a new direction shaped by faith.
As he prepares to unveil Through Him Music album, Hush BK is now looking at the next chapter with a different purpose, using music and his public platform to share a message that reflects his personal transformation.
