Why I Started Street Worship — Hush BK

Gospel artist Hush BK is redefining public spaces by turning the streets into a sanctuary through his weekly “Worship Call.”

‎‎Held every Wednesday from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, the initiative invites passersby to pause, reflect, and reconnect spiritually. According to Hush BK, the idea was born out of a simple but profound calling.

‎‎“Why did I start? The worship call… It’s just for people to come and relax. One is to worship God,” he explains. “People are coming from stressful jobs, and if someone passes by and listens to even one song, it’s purely worship.”

‎Hush BK estimates that while a small portion of the gathering may include other elements, “90 percent is purely worship,” creating a calm and spiritually uplifting atmosphere for attendees.

‎‎"What makes the Worship Call unique is its diversity. Rather than being tied to a single church, it brings together young people from different Christian backgrounds. It’s just youth… youthful people who love God coming together,” he says.

‎‎Hush BK assembled a band that includes a saxophonist, bass guitarist, lead guitarist, pianist, and vocalist. Many of them joined after he pitched the vision.

‎‎“I just shared the idea with them, and they bought it,” he says. “They are people who love God.”

‎‎Importantly, he is keen to clarify that the Worship Call is not meant to replace the old-school Sunday School event, but rather to complement it.

‎‎“They are all from the same mother, but each has a different vibe,” he notes. “This one is purely worship, people come to worship.”

‎‎Reflecting on the first session, Hush BK described it as deeply moving. “It was very lovely. When you worship God in truth and in spirit, you feel the atmosphere… the Holy Spirit guides everything.”
