Weekends are meant to cool off from the busy and eventful activities of the week. There is no better way to do this than stepping out of the house, be it a solo plan or one that your crew presents.

Although few, Nakuru is stepping into the weekend with events that will get you having some FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).

Starting off is the Shuga Mashariki on Tour, where cast members will be at the Rift Valley National Polytechnic from 10 am on Saturday. Unlike me, who has only met Govi from Mchachari, film lovers will get a chance to meet and hang out with an array of cast members they watch on their screens, interact with them, and maybe even grab a selfie or two for the gram.

There will also be screenings of Shuga episodes and merchandise giveaways for lucky fans.

For park-and-chill lovers, this Saturday and Sunday Switch Concept has a plan laid out for you. Hosted at Kunste Grounds, the event offers convenience not far from the city centre and an affordable entry fee of Sh200 to access the experience. Organizers promise a relaxed outdoor vibe complete with music, games and networking spaces for young people looking to unwind away from the usual club setting.

Mental health awareness will also take centre stage this weekend through the Nakuru Walk Movement Mental Health Awareness Walk. The 23-kilometre walk from Nyayo Gardens to Egerton University is expected to attract fitness enthusiasts and mental health champions. Participants are expected to gather at 6:30 am before the walk officially kicks off at 6:45 am on Saturday.

Nightlife lovers are equally spoiled for choice. On Friday evening, karaoke lovers will gather at Hideout Lounge along Nakuru-Kabarak Road for Karaoke Night hosted by Ngangalito and Maxine. The event, which starts at 7 pm promises great vibes, live singalongs and a lively crowd for those looking to ease into the weekend with music and entertainment.

Saturday night will then shift gears with the highly anticipated “Shades of Grey” experience at The Lawns Restaurant. The themed party, running from 4 pm till late, will feature DJs V-Era and Jeff Mdozi spinning a mix of pop, house, deep house, soul and sensual RnB music. Revelers are expected to dress in black, red and shades of grey, adding glamour to one of the city’s most anticipated social events this weekend.

You have your weekend guide on where to be. See you on the next one.
