Seven months after the closure of Groundless Lounge, a new club is coming up within the premises.

Our spot check at the entertainment joint revealed new details about the club which is set to be opened in two weeks’ time.

On our fact finding visit, we were met by a beehive of activities as contracted workers went about their business of renovations and remodelling of the club, in a bid to meet the anticipated grand opening date.

One of the workers intimated to Mtaa Wangu that the club might be opened on November 15,2024 if all goes well, with big East African artists expected to perform.

According to a worker, the launch preparations are at an advanced stage noting that the club will go by the name ‘Wave XO’.

Asked whether talks in town that the club is owned by a vocal Rift Valley Member of Parliament Is true, the worker distanced himself from the allegation noting he has not dealt with the politician directly.

“At the moment, we are almost done with the interior, some staff have already been hired. All they are waiting for are touch ups to be completed, for the club to be operational. Words are that the club is owned by an MP but we cannot verify who exactly, since we have not seen the said person since we started working here,” says the worker.

At the entrance, about 12 new stalls have been set up, with one operational while the rest are yet to be taken up.

During our time at the premises, we witnessed residents walking in and inquiring the terms of renting the space and the kind of business that can be allowed once it's opened with the expectation of securing a stall.

According to the worker we spoke to, several businesses including; a car wash, pork joint and food joint have already taken up the spaces.

“The new owner has leased the property which will house the club as the main business but other small businesses are expected to come up which were not there during the Groundless time. The politician wants to create more vibrancy,” says the worker.

Will Wave XO be the new club coming to shake up the entertainment scene in Nakuru and will it survive the test of time?
