No more strippers in Nakuru, only memories remain

Earlier on during the week, Groundless lounge met a sad and dramatic end with auctioneers seizing valuables long after the club owners had allegedly snuck out all the liquor.

In case you never got to party at Groundless before its demise, let me help paint a picture for you.

Imagine a nightclub in Nakuru as spacious enough as some clubs in Naivasha or Nairobi even; with a dance floor, proper ventilation and ample parking space.

And just when you thought this was all Groundless could offer, Thursday night would see the place filled to the brim with many ready to tip and gasp in awe at the pole dancers flexibility and sensual dance moves.

This recent closure got me thinking; is there a strip club curse in Nakuru?

If you partied way back in 2017 all up until around 2022, you may have frequented or at least partied once at SEBS.

In its prime, SEBS was one of the places to visit especially for those that loved to dance on its spacious dance floor.

The place would also be frequented by many on Wednesdays when exotic dancers would entertain revellers for an entry fee of Sh500.

Back then, the place would fill purely out of wonder of what the dancers would do or wear.

Often you'd see people watch with their mouths agape and eyes filled with wonder and a mixture of admiration, as some girlfriends would try cover their man's eyes.

It wasn't long before SEBS became the talk of the town, as 'shame' slowly began leaving Nakuru residents who then began enjoying the strip show.

Business was booming so much so that it was no longer a surprise to run into your lecturer or neighbour at the place.

What happened to the spot you may ask? It met its end just like Groundless; of course due to the main problem many clubs in Nakuru continue to face; mismanagement.

Just like back then, strip show fans are once again left distraught and without a place to indulge in this 'sinful' entertainment.
