Court bars Milimani’s  Jade Hekima Lawns from playing loud music at night

The Nakuru Environment and Lands Court has issued temporary orders restraining Jade Hekima Lawn Ltd from playing loud music or emitting noise that interferes with residents living in the Milimani Estate.

The temporary injunction was issued pending the hearing and determination of the matter that was filed by officials of the Nakuru Milimani Residents Organization.

In their petition the residents complained that the operations of Jade Hekima, which runs a bar within the neighborhood, had resulted in excessive noise pollution that disrupted the quiet occupation and enjoyment of their properties.

The Nakuru County Government was sued together with Jades Hekima. The residents accused it of unprocedurally issuing a trade permit to Jade Hekima to operate a mega bar without conducting any public participation amongst neighbouring residents, as is legally required.

The court also gave conservatory orders the court also issued a conservatory order barring the Nakuru County Government from licensing or permitting the bar to operate an alcoholic drinks business at the premises.

“ The Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Kaptembwo Police Station to oversee the implementation of these orders,” read the ruling in part.

Mtaa Wangu first highlighted the issue on December 5, 2025. In their petition the residents, also claims apart from affecting them it also has an impact on the nearby surrounding.

"Jade Hekima is situated near learning institutions such as the Kenya Medical Training College, the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital, and the Nakuru Cancer Hospice, and their loud music affects patients in these institutions," read the document in part.

They also argued that the establishment has become a nuisance to them and it has a negative impact on their children who are exposed to obscene language and indecent behaviour portrayed by the patrons and revellers of this establishment.
