Amapiano, ASK Show, Park and Chill, and all the good vibes: Your Nakuru weekend lineup is here

Events happening in Nakuru this weekend.
If Nakuru had a love language this weekend, it would be one vibu after vibu. From powerful tributes and high heels on the dance floor, as well as boots at the showground.
It's the kind of weekend where you could wake up dancing, spend your afternoon immersed in literature, and still have time to pet a prize-winning goat.
Let's start with the streets because Nakuru's party scene is lit from Friday through to Sunday. The iconic Defence Forces Canteen Organisation (DEFCO) at the showground has officially reopened, and is already attracting groups of people ready to raise their glasses and make up for lost weekends. Whether you're in for a quick drink or a whole evening of fun with friends, DEFCO's doors are wide open.
But if you’re craving a full-on party experience, Nakuru’s entertainment venues are pulling out all the stops. At 7D Platinum they will start with a NaxVegas Shutdown featuring Sir Silky, and then upping the ante with the Girls in the City edition on Saturday, headlined by DJ Becky and MC Cruz.
Next door at Space, Friday night is all about DJ Niche and MC Breezy, while Sunday sees the venue transform into an Amapiano, Afrobeat and House hotspot with DJ Coco, DJ Dii and MC Pau. It’s the perfect place to end the weekend's party marathon.
And let's not forget that Wave XO is hosting the Double Finesse Edition on both Friday and Saturday, with Roy Teeboy on the decks.
If you're into classical music, WaterBuck might be the place for you. Their Jazz Night returns on Friday at 6 pm with Noah Saha.
But amidst all the bass and bottles, Sunday takes a soulful pause as the city pays tribute to a literary guru. At Baraza Media Lab in CK Plaza, Kitabu Fest is hosting a powerful celebration of the late author Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o. Titled 'The Word as Revolution', this gathering of minds promises deep reflections, meaningful conversations and an opportunity to honour the pen that shook systems. It's taking place from 12 pm to 6 pm.
And for those who love spending their weekends in the sun with great music, Park and Chill at Ngata Farm is offering a vibrant escape on Saturday. From noon to 8 pm, enjoy an all-out field party featuring Amapiano, EDM and RnB, as well as bonfires, interactive games and a DJ line-up including Wakena, Kabochi Groove, SIRME, V3, Carlos and Jeff Mdozi. Entry is Sh500.
If you're looking for something a little more wholesome and farm-fresh, head to the Nakuru ASK Showground, where the National Show is in full swing until Sunday. There are livestock displays, agricultural innovations, tech showcases and tasty local treats.
This one's for the curious and the families. Entry? It's Sh300 for adults and Sh250 for children. Remember to take photos – in years to come, this will be your cue for 'Remember when we went to the show in 2025?'
I still remember the booth where someone was presenting themselves as a mermaid. I paid Sh20 back then just to catch a glimpse of her! I don't need to tell you how scary it was for me. I hope you get to make some good memories there.
So, whether you're there for the sherehe, the storytelling or some good old-fashioned goat petting, Nakuru has a whole vibe this weekend. The only thing missing? You!
Weekend usikupate umeboke to Mtaani. See you on Plug Day!
