The article done by Mtaa Wangu on July 10, 2025.
This week, Mtaa Wangu addressed the elephant in the room: how Nakuru is likely to be skipped by promoters of major events.
Na by the way, hii haikuwa story za jaba, we gave evidence, from Nadia Mukami’s Queen of the East Tour and Mkurugenzi and Crazy Kennar show’s which went to Eldoret.
In the article, we said the honest and brutal truth about the matter, but of course pia watu pale kwa comment section hawakukosa vitu mbili tatu za kuongezea.
And Nakuru residents did not hold back; in fact, they shared detailed reasons why Nakuru is a boring place.
Zack Wakairu said that no promoter would dare invest in a city that goes to sleep at 7:30 pm. He was alluding to the fact that the concept of nightlife remains foreign to the people of Nakuru.
"Which promoter would dare? Nakuru is turning into a cool retirement home for people from other towns," read part of his post.
Those who commented on his post agreed with him, with Dan Muema going so far as to call Nakuru 'ocha ime advance'.
Damara Ndege agreed with Dan, suggesting that Nakuru should be stripped off its city status and revert to being referred to as a 'big town'.
Peter Kariuki thinks that we should invest in an airport first, but Kairu Zack says that Nakuru has never been an entertainment town.
"It's a town of introverts," says Kairu.
According to Blessed Maish, the reason Nakuru is likely to be skipped by promoters for major events is that the church has reclaimed its rightful position in eradicating debauchery and excessive indulgence.
"Youths who used to frequent these places have seen the light of Christ and now spend precious time in the presence of the Lord," read part of the post.
Others argued that the recent increase in insecurity in the city has also played a part.
“Gangs and phone theft at events are destroying Nakuru’s concert scene. Promoters won't risk it where fans feel unsafe,” says Miracle Nyarega.
Dylan Senior claims: “Given the crime rate, people won't go to concerts.”
