Nakuru-based film production house, Way of Peace, has produced a film wholly shot in Nakuru.

Speaking to Collins Mucha, the producer of the film Shadows, he says the main aim of shooting and premiering the movie in Nakuru was to bring the Nakuru film culture back to life.

"We chose to shoot in Nakuru because it is a very beautiful place. There are beautiful sceneries that give amazing arial shots,” he says.

Apart from the aesthetics, Mucha notes that shooting in Nakuru proved much cheaper compared to other places.

“Another advantage is the convenience where it is easy to move from one place to another since there is no traffic jam.”

He adds that the local community also played a huge role in enhancing the film's authenticity.

Asked about the premier expected to happen on Saturday, Mucha says, "From the feedback we are getting, many of the residents have promised to attend the premiere. It will be a red carpet event, at Emboita hotel," he adds.

Digging into the theme of Shadows, Mucha explains that the film goes in tandem with issues surrounding men's mental health.

“In the film, we witness a man going through a lot but mostly mental health challenges. This will make it very relatable to the audience.”

Mucha says although the production of the film was expensive, the final product is worthwhile.

"My advice to the young people who want to start film production, is to just start with whatever you have and proceed from there. Do not wait to get funding so that you can do something big. Start small and build on what you have," he concludes.
