Tales of Nakuru men's comical experience in popular fast food joint

Fast food joint in Nakuru city.
Kenyatta Avenue can be described as the heart of Nakuru City.
However, as you approach the junction where the Kenya Commercial Bank and Tower One buildings stand, you’ll pass by a building that most people might overlook, simply walking past it without a second thought.
But then, the mouth-watering aroma of bubbling cheese, tangy tomato sauce, and freshly baked dough wafts through the air, blending with the city’s energy. It immediately grabs the attention of any passer-by.
If hunger and curiosity have anything to say about it, you’ll likely find yourself walking into the establishment.
This fast-food joint has been the talk of the town for the past three years since its inception, offering an experience unlike anything the people of Nakuru had longed for.
As a unique offering, of course, individuals have varying opinions and experiences.
One such individual is Boniface Mwangi, a photographer in Nakuru, who shares a story about how he once thought the establishment was short changing him.
"I remember a time when I went to buy pizzas during one of their offers—buy one, get one free. After making my payment, I stood aside, waiting for my order to come through," he recalls.
He continues, "Indeed, twenty minutes later, I was handed a medium box of pizza. Since I knew I was getting a second one for free, I stood there, patiently waiting. Another twenty minutes passed, and I asked the cashier for my second pizza."
Boniface jokingly says the cashier's response left him feeling embarrassed.
"She pulled me aside, and we opened the box, only to find both pizzas stacked one on top of the other. I quietly walked away. There weren’t many people around, so no one really witnessed my moment of shame," he says, laughing.
Boniface doesn’t seem to be the only one with an eye-opening experience. Just last week, a clip circulated on social media of a man who went to buy pizza. When he told the cashier, “Leta hio pizza,” he wasn’t very familiar with the concept of "buy one, get one free."
He was shocked when he opened the box and immediately asked where the free pizza was, only to discover it beneath the first one.
He then turned to his child and said she loved eating "mutungo," which is loosely translated to boiled maize.
The concept of international fast food chains is still new in Nakuru County, with most fast-food joints having only one branch, typically located in the city centre.
Perhaps with time, the residents will get used to these city vibes.
