Motorists using the Nakuru- Nairobi highway can have a sigh of relief after the Kenya National Highways Authority announced alternative routes to the World Rally Championship (WRC) venue in Naivasha in a bid to curb traffic jams.

Following concerns by motorists and travellers over the heavy traffic snarl up that is always experienced during the event, the agency has moved to provide a solution to the problem by identifying four different routes to the venue.

Apart from the main Nakuru-Nairobi highway which is the main trunk linking the western regions to the capital, KENHA has identified four key roads classified to serve four different categories: the scenic route, the adventure route, the Thika route and the Suswa shortcut.

The scenic route begins from Nairobi- Rironi- Flyover (Magumu) – Njambini – Olkaloau – Ol Joro Orok- Lanet.

The adventure route starts from Nairobi -Rironi – Naivasha -Engineer – Ol Kalou - Ol Joro orok -Lanet.

The Thika route begins from Nairobi - Thika -Magumu – Ol Kalou -Ol Joro Orok Lanet while the Suswa shortcut begins from Nairobi- Ngongtown – Kibiko – Suswa.

Motorists who will opt using this route are advised to watch out for the gravel stretch which KENHA has recommended for 4 by 4 vehicles.
