The tension in Shabab estate can be sliced with a knife.

Reason for this tense feeling; an unfortunate incident where robbers armed with a gun, allegedly shot dead a woman at her business premises near Tanners yesterday evening.

The woman, Florida Kameta, 48, was fondly referred to as Mama Lucky.

When Mtaa Wangu visited the scene, the residents were tense, advising us to quickly leave. A group of boda boda riders kept a close eye on our moves.

Outside Mama Lucky’s kiosk, family who refused to speak to us packed items from the shop into her white vehicle.

Speaking to Mtaa Wangu, Hebon Okiki, a neighbour to the deceased says she was attacked at around 9 pm on Monday evening, as she was closing her shop.

"Mama Lucky was a lovely lady in our community as she supported those in need. I have known her for five years. However, to my understanding she has lived here for over three decades," he says.

Additionally, two of her children moved abroad recently.

"After the incident, police did their patrols. Sniff dogs with armed officers were here throughout the night pursuing the said shooters. As residents, all we could do is to corporate with the authorities to see to it that the alleged killers are caught," he says.

In an interview with Mtaa Wangu, Shabab area MCA David Wathiai says the suspects are believed to be rough boys from the area who have decided to turn to crime and terrorize residents.

"It is shameful that the criminals took life and went ahead to threaten more people as they left the crime scene.  I would say they are audacious since they left the scene on foot and threatened those who dared to pursue them, before using a motorbike to make their escape," he reveals.

The area leader lauded security operators who responded to the matter promptly.

" I am yet to tell how many people have been arrested in relation to this incident. However, this is a matter I am following closely to see to it that the family gets justice," he says.

According to Nakuru county police commander , Samuel Ndanyi, one key suspect John Muigai alias Rasta in his early 20s and four others were arrested .

He however notes that they are yet to recover the murder weapon.
