A family in Kiratina, Nakuru County, are living in anguish after their one-year-old son disappeared in unclear circumstances on October 4, 2025.

The family has been searching for the boy, named Isaac Francis, ever since.

According to Isaac's mother Celestine Anyona she had left home at around 9am to wash clothes for a client, leaving her son in good health. She said the toddler was wearing green trousers, a grey top and blue shoes when she left.

“I had gone to work when my sister called me several times. When I finally returned her call at around 11am, she asked if I had my son with me. That is when I knew something was terribly wrong,” she says.

Ms Anyona says that her sister, who lives nearby, had picked up the child earlier to look after him. However, while she was attending to a client at her salon, she briefly asked a neighbour to keep an eye on the boy. When she went back to collect him, the neighbour allegedly denied ever being left with the child.

"After I left home, my sister took my child to stay with her while she was at work. But when she returned to collect him, the neighbour said she had never had my son,” Ms Anyona recounted tearfully.

She added that her sister had changed the boy’s outfit before he went missing, dressing him in red trousers, a grey top, and the same blue shoes.

The family has since launched a frantic search for the child, visiting relatives, friends, and police stations, but to no avail. They have also reported the matter to the police, who have begun an investigation.

Her distress deepened after receiving a strange call from an unknown number.

“A man called to say that my son was in Eldoret and that he could take me to him. The number was disconnected, and I haven’t been able to reach him again. I don’t know if he was telling the truth or just playing with my emotions,” she says.

She fears her son may have fallen victim to a child trafficking syndicate.

The family has turned to social media to appeal for help, sharing photos of Isaac and details about him on platforms such as TikTok and Facebook.

“If you have any information about Isaac’s whereabouts, please contact us on 0741 454 263 or 0707 019 103, or report it to your local police station,” she says, adding that the child was last seen near St Peter Kiratina Church, close to the family home.

Issac’s father, Bernard Masanga, says that residents are planning to hold a peaceful protest from Kiratina to Nakuru Town to draw attention to the growing number of missing children in the area.

“My son is not the first to go missing here. Many parents have suffered in silence. We want the authorities to take this matter seriously because our children are no longer safe,” he says.
