As we go past the Naivas Downtown Roundabout on the way to Menengai High School, we notice a tall building. From the outside, one can see that it is steadily taking shape.

Since 2021, the construction of this building has been ongoing. Fast forward to three years later, the building appears to be one of a kind.

It towers above all the other surrounding buildings, standing out amidst the older buildings that make up Nakuru’s down town area.

From the outside, there is a perimeter wall made out of iron sheets with the main access point locked and a watchman standing guard at the gate.

For those with businesses in the vicinity, curiosity has been the order of the day as they have been wondering what is this tall building coming up in this space.

Mtaa Wangu got to gain access into the compound just to be able to answer this question that has been on the mind of many residents.

Upon entry we noticed that works were still continuing. The air was filled with deafening sounds of a welding machine, as masons carried bags of cement around.

The building is at least nine floors tall.

We spoke to one of the construction workers who works in the building on condition of anonymity and he hinted at the building being a shopping mall, expected to be completed by end of October or early November this year.

One of the tenants is expected to be a supermarket that currently has a significant presence in Naivasha.

In the last five years Nakuru has seen a steady increase in the number of malls coming up. From Riria Hub, Golden Life Mall and to the most recent one, a Sh. 10 billion mall coming up where the Eveready Company was.
