Update: Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara being held at Pangani Police station, Nairobi

Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara who was arrested by DCI officers under unclear circumstances is being transfered to Nairobi.

The lawmaker who was picked from her Maraigushu home today early afternoon was booked at Naivasha police station.

Her lawyer Wachira Waiganjo however confirmed to Mtaa Wangu that they are currently enroute Nairobi.

"We do not know yet the charge she is facing but we are currently heading to the DCI headquarters", he says.

According to Eunice Muriithi ( Mama Soko)  who was with the MP at the time of the arrest, the legislator was hosting a delegation from the Sand Mining company in the area where they were having a consultative meeting.

“We were having our meeting. At around 3 pm, we had a loud knock at the gate. When the gate was opened, a group of officers came in and identified themselves as DCI officers from Naivasha and Nairobi,” she says.

“The Member of Parliament declined going with the officers without the presence of her lawyers. After a while, her advocates arrived and they went to the Naivasha DCI offices where she was booked,” she says.

Additionally, Eunice says that this issue has stemmed from a sermon the MP had gotten from the DCI earlier this week.

“The advocates of the legislator replied to the sermons that she had earlier received in writing. However, the DCI insisted that she had to go physically and since the sermon came from Nairobi she would have to go there,” she adds.

The MP is currently being held at the Pangani Police Station in Nairobi, awaiting arraignment at the Milimani Law Courts today
