Unregistered bible school lands Nakuru man in court

A man was arraigned in court on August 18 for managing an unlawful society.
The court heard that John Maina alias Teacher Bezalel, on 23rd May 2025 at Bondeni area in Nakuru West Sub County within Nakuru County was found managing a Bible school namely, Christ School of Ministry International School Nakuru, without registration.
Mr. Maina denied the charge.
The defence counsel pleaded for reasonable bail and bond terms, informing the court that ever since May 23rd John has been summoned by the police five times, the last one being August 18 where he availed himself and was then arrested.
“The accused person will be willing to abide by any terms that will be imposed by this court as pre-condition for his attendance and admission to bail,” stated the defence counsel.
The prosecution did not oppose the release of the accused person on bond. However, they proposed the same include a surety to ensure he attends court.
Principal Magistrate Kipkurui Kibellion, granted the accused a bond of sh. 100,000 and a surety of a similar amount or an alternative cash bail of sh. 100,000.
The matter will be mentioned on September 2, 2025.
On the other side of court, the hearing into the mysterious disappearance of Baby Mercy will commence on October 22.
Senior Resident Magistrate Emmanuel Soita gave orders to the court administrator to make sure that they have a sign language interpreter present in court for the hearing of the case.
This comes after the court was informed that the parents of the infant have a hearing impairment.
Michael Nderitu the chief mortician and Mary Muthoni both of whom work at the Nakuru County Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue are the suspects who were arrested in connection to the mysterious disappearance of Baby Mercy.
