Two people have died in a road crash after the matatu they were travelling in collided with a trailer along the Sobea-Salgaa stretch near Nakuru teacher’s college, in Nakuru County.

The incident has been confirmed by the Nakuru County Police commander Samuel Ndanyi who said the fourteen seater farasi shuttle was ferrying passengers from Nakuru heading towards Eldoret when it collided head on with the trailer which was going the opposite direction.

One of the eye witlessness who only identified himself as Sang’ said that the accident occurred at Tiririka as you head to Salgaa.

"There was a small salon car that was heading in the same direction as the matatu while the trailer was coming from the opposite direction. The small salon car overtook the matatu and it was right on the path of the trailer. In a bid to try and not hit the small car, the trailer swerved into the lane of the matatu hitting it," he said.

Mr Ndanyi said ten people who were injured in the crash were rushed to the Nakuru County Teaching and Referral hospital for treatment.

"We have police officers on the ground trying to ease traffic congestion for the motorists along that route," he added.
