Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the brutal murders of three elderly people whose bodies were discovered at their homes in separate incidents in Rongai Sub-county, four months ago.

Nakuru County Criminal Investigation Officer Samwel Ngeiywo confirms the arrest, noting that the three suspects, all from the Rongai area, were picked up on different dates.

“The first one was arrested on March 27 and the other two were arrested on March 30,” he says.

The victims, Joseph Ndegwa Kihiti, 90, and his wife, Rose Wanjiku, 63, are believed to have been attacked on the evening of October 31, 2025, at their home, with their bodies discovered on November 2 at Rigogo farm.

Whereas Margaret Wambui, 65, a member of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Women’s guild, was also found murdered in her home, with postmortem results indicating that she had sustained a severe head injury, with her hand broken three times.

A postmortem conducted in November 2025 revealed that both died from blunt force trauma.

“My father was hit on the head, and my mother on the left side of the head. She had a broken shoulder and hand," a family member had said.

Ngeiywo notes that the motive behind the killings is an alleged land dispute, and that the suspects did not act alone, adding that a breakthrough in the case came through a confession from one of the arrested suspects.

“We have a confession from one of them who has mentioned the other two, so there is a possibility of arresting more people,” Ngeiywo says.

The three suspects were presented before Molo Law Courts on March 30, where police have sought 30 days of custodial time to complete their investigations.

“We have asked for 30 days for us to complete investigations, which is supposed to wind up on April 27, 2026," he confirms.
