Three murders shock residents of Bahati sub-county
Police in Nakuru are investigating several gruesome incidents reported over the Christmas holidays, leaving communities in shock and mourning.
Woman's body found in sack in Bahati
In Bahati sub-county, police are hunting a suspect who allegedly killed his lover and hid her mutilated body in a sack. The incident occurred at Joseph Mwangi's homestead in Ngomongo village.
Bahati Sub-County Police Commander Lilies Wachira confirmed the case and said the suspect, a family member, was on the run.
"The victim's eyes were gouged out and one breast was cut off. We are working to unravel the events that led to this crime," Ms Wachira says.
Edward Munyuku a Neighbour says he was called to the scene by Mrs Mwangi on Christmas night.
"She asked me to help her take her husband to hospital as he was not feeling well. While looking for the gate keys in the servants' quarters, she spotted a sack with blood running out of it. Inside was a human body, mutilated beyond recognition. It was a horrific scene," Mr Munyuku says.
Elderly woman raped and killed in Gilgil
In a separate incident in Mutaita village, Gilgil sub-county, a 75-year-old woman was allegedly raped and killed.
Neighbour Priscilla Abuya described the discovery by one of the victim's daughters, who had come to visit her mother for the holidays.
"She found the door partially open and upon entering discovered a pool of blood where her mother was lying. The victim had injuries on her face, her womb had been cut open and there were signs of sexual assault," Ms Abuya lamented.
KDF officer arrested for killing civilian in Bahati
Meanwhile, in Githioro, Bahati sub-county, a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer is in custody for allegedly killing a civilian in the canteen of Githioro police station.
According to Police Commander Lillies Wachira, the officer had gone to the canteen with his wife to celebrate Christmas. A heated argument broke out between him and 74-year-old Maurice Gachanja.
"Efforts to separate them failed. Gachanja sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Nakuru County Teaching and Referral Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries," Ms Wachira says.
