As the deadline for registration for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) draws near, parents and schools are scrambling to ensure that all eligible learners are registered on the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) portals.

The KPSEA is a national examination administered by KNEC to Grade 6 learners who are about to move from upper primary to junior or lower secondary school under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

In these examinations, students are assessed on what they have learnt in grades one to six.

In a release issued on February 1, KNEC announced the opening of its registration portals and instructed school principals to ensure that all eligible learners are registered before the deadline of March 29, which is only two days away.

For those children who have already registered, parents can confirm whether their children have registered through the portal by following these steps.

1.    Visit the portal through the link https://cba.knec.ac.ke/parent.

2.    Select Year 6 and enter the assessment number.

3.    Click on the search tab and you will be able to see the learner's registration details.

4.    For KCSE candidates, parents can confirm their children's KCSE 2024 registration by either visiting the website https://cba.knec.ac.ke/parent using the student's index number or via a USSD code by sending the candidate's index number and exam code to 20076.

If there are any anomalies in the registration details, parents are advised to contact the head teacher or principal of the school immediately before the deadline to correct the details provided.

KNEC has advised KCSE candidates to ensure that their passport photographs are of the correct size and to confirm that full names, gender, year of birth, nationality, entry codes, birth certificate numbers, special needs category and subjects are registered.

The Council has warned that there will be no extension of time for registration.

The KPSEA exams will be held from 28 to 31 October 2024, while the KCSE exams will be held from 4 November 2024.
