Suspect linked to Naivasha timberyard arson attack arrested

One suspect is in custody following a fire that destroyed timber at a sawmill in Naivasha on Monday, with police treating the incident as a suspected arson case.
Naivasha OCPD Wilson Arap Sigei who spoke to Mtaa Wangu confirmed one person has been arrested in connection with the Monday night inferno.
According to the Sub County Police boss preliminary investigations are pointing to a case of arson which police are pursuing.
“Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, but we suspect it was an arson attack” Mr Sigei said.
He said firefighters arrived at the scene after the fire had already spread and could do little to salvage the situation
Mr Sigeo said the value of the damage is yet to be established though could be estimated to millions of shillings.
The fire has raised concerns over the need for timely emergency response to prevent further losses, particularly at businesses dealing with highly flammable materials such as timber.
The Sub county police boss said the suspect will be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
