Nakuru locals were yesterday evening serenaded to Reggae at Maasai Market by Bani Blackman ft the Mystical band and Lookit art band.
Motorists and motorbike drivers in transit within the CBD had to secure a parking spot just to catch a glimpse of this band and enjoy the music being played.
Babushe Maina, the event organizer of the street music performance says this is a way of giving back to society as they mark Valentine’s day.
“Nakuru being a UNESCO creative city we feel it’s important we start giving those moments of joy, happiness, and beauty to the city. We decided to do a lover’s rock on valentines to create a lot of beauty, love, and happiness for the people of Nakuru in collaboration with Nakuru city,” he said.

He added that the performance is a building block toward celebrating World UNESCO day in April.
“What is being played here today is reggae that you will never find in hotels that is why we bring it to people at the grassroots to enjoy and engage the under-privilege people in society, like street children who seemed to be forgotten on this special day,” he noted
Shimron Ouya the lead singer of Lookit art band says, performing reggae music in the streets is making this genre of music get its path in this young city.
He notes that Reggae is no longer being viewed in a negative way as it was before and that’s why they come out in numbers to share some love on valentines with Nakuru people.
