Security Guard Pleads Guilty to Killing His Girlfriend

A security guard suspected of killing his university student girlfriend in Naka, has admitted to committing the offence.

Ezra Kipkemei Kemboi on Thursday pleaded guilty to the charge of murder against Ms Phyllis Jepleting Jeruto on diverse dates between December 26 and December 31 last year.

The murder incident occurred at his temporary house at Naka estate in Nakuru town East constituency.

Mr Kipkemoi will however have to wait until January 24 for his punishment after the court allowed the prosecution time to prepare the facts of the case.

The suspect was arrested on January 4 at Kibochoi in Nandii South sub county as went to seek treatment at the Kibwareng health facility.

Police had indicated that the suspect who was on the run had attempted suicide by slitting a vein on his arm before he changed his mind and sought treatment.

The deceased who was a first year student at Karatina University is alleged to have visited the suspect who is said to be her boyfriend on December 19.

Neighbours claimed to have last seen her on December 26 at the house.

Her death was discovered by neighbors who suspected a foul smell that emanated from the house.

They broke into the house only to find her decomposing body lying on a mattress in a pool of blood.

Postmortem revealed that the cause of the woman’s death was due to physical strangulation.

The court however directed that the suspect be taken through counselling before the mention date.
