The search for two-year-old Prince Nathan, who went missing in Kariobangi, Njoro, on Monday, September 8, is still ongoing as detectives pursue multiple leads.
Njoro Sub-County Police Commander Stanley Koech confirmed that the child’s father, who was the last person seen with him, still remains in custody.
"We presented him in court where we were granted a custodial order as part of the investigation into Nathan’s disappearance. The father will remain in custody for 14 days as we continue with our investigation," Koech explains .
The Sub - County Commander further noted that more individuals are recording statements that are key to the investigations, though he did not give specific numbers.
Koech also notes that prior to this, Nathan's father had been presented in court on Wednesday over assault charges reported by Nathan’s mother on the same day their son disappeared.
However, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) advised the matter be handled through the alternative justice system since it appeared to be a family-related dispute.
For Nathan’s mother, Jane Kariuki, the days since her son went missing have been filled with anguish.
She appeals to the public for anyone who has information that might allow her to get her son back to reach out to her or the police.
"I have looked for him everywhere and I will not give up. Please, if anyone has seen my son or knows where he is, report to the police or call me on 0719656803," she appeals.
Jane says on the day Nathan went missing he was wearing a pink pull-neck, a beige sweater and black trousers.
