Residents of Visoi location in Visoi ward are looking for a three-year-old boy who went missing on the afternoon of August 21, 2024 and is now feared to have drowned in River Molo.

The incident was reported to have occurred between 3 and 4 pm after Calvin Kipkurui who was playing with the neighbourhood dog could not be located.

According to the Senior Assistant Chief Lengenet location, Moses Chepkwony, the boy's father reported the disappearance at the Rongai police station on Tuesday evening.

“We were informed of the boy’s disappearance yesterday after it was reported to the police station as a missing child,” says Chepkwony.

He adds that as time went by, residents raised alarm on suspicion of the boy drowning in a nearby well that was emptied to rule this out.

“We emptied a well near their home on suspicion of Calvin having fallen in there but he was not in it. We therefore decided to move the search along the river near their home,” confirms Chepkwony.

He adds that “official rescue efforts have begun today (Friday), with community and government divers deployed on the scene since morning to help with rescue operations.”

The search and rescue operation that started in Visoi Location was today in Lengenet location over a 7-10 km stretch and will continue on Saturday downstream until the boy is found.
