Puzzle of how 16-year-old girl who went missing in Nakuru was found in Kisii
After days of sleepless nights searching for her missing 16-year-old daughter, Esther Kerubo can now rest easy after Yvonne Kwamboka was found in Kisii.
Yvonne was found wandering the streets of Kebirigo, still in her school uniform.
The Form Four student was spotted by locals wandering the streets while in a state of confusion.
Her daughter's distraught state attracted a crowd of people who started questioning her about her parents' whereabouts and whether anything bad had happened to her.
Luckily for Esther and her daughter, some of the people attracted by the crowd were some of her relatives who quickly called to tell her that they had found her daughter.
"I received a call from some of my relatives who live in Kisii informing me that they had found Yvonne wandering the streets of Kisii. What alarmed the locals was how confused Yvonne appeared and her extremely swollen feet. Some of the locals in Kisii had also seen her missing posters all over Facebook," said Mrs Kerubo.
Yvonne Kwamboka was taken to Nyamira County Referral Hospital where several tests were carried out, including a rape kit.
"I am happy that she tested negative for rape. There were also no drugs found in her system. I am grateful to have her, but I still have a lot of unanswered questions about how she got to Kisii," says Esther.
But with her daughter's swollen feet, Esther suspects that she may have walked from Nakuru to Kisii.
At the time of publishing this article, Yvonne had not regained her full composure to talk about what she may have been through.
"Social media was very helpful in finding my dear daughter. I am grateful to have found her alive and well. I would like to thank each and every person who took the time to pray and share Yvonne's missing posters," said Esther Kerubo.
