Nakuru Town West OCPD, Jackline Gacheri, the police got information on May 6 at 9:00 p.m. that there was a shop dealing with stolen mobile phones.

"We managed to net assorted mobile phones 305 and two suspects aged between 35 and 45 in our custody," she says, warning the public to refrain from buying secondhand phones, as doing so could land them in jail.

The police commander also issues a stern warning to businessmen and women operating illegal phone businesses in the sub-county noting that should stop, vacate or stay and face the law.

According to the Deputy Subcounty commissioner DCC, Rashid Konya, the information came from members of the public who volunteered the information to the Police during the two-month investigation period.

"Between January and February we had a lot of insecurity in the sub-county, we sat down and put strategies, these are the fruits of the efforts," he says.

The police reckon that if they kill the demand of the stolen mobile phones, the crime will go down adding that no life was lost during the operation.

"We appeal to members of public to come identify their phones", says Konya.
