A police officer stationed at Rhonda Police post in Nakuru West subcounty is under investigation for alleged defilement of two minors at the station.

The officer, identified as Cosmas Daniel Leserite is alleged to have defiled the girls on the morning of January 20 inside the police cells.

The minors had been booked at the station as “children in need of care and protection” and placed under police custody.

According to court documents, the minors reported the incident to another officer at the station, who escalated the matter to the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), prompting investigations.

When the matter came before Nakuru Principal Magistrate Aloyce Ndege, the investigating officer sought 10 days to complete investigations.

The court heard that during this period, samples collected from the victims and the suspect will be submitted to the government chemist, the minors will undergo age assessment, and key witnesses will record their statements due to the sensitive nature of the offence.

The magistrate granted the prosecution’s request and remanded the suspect for 10 days to allow investigations to proceed.

The matter will be mentioned on February 2.
