Male circumcision is deeply rooted in the tradition and culture of many communities, but the subject of circumcision is usually discussed in hushed tones, despite being seen as a transition from boyhood to manhood.

For those who haven't undergone the cut, it's a stigma.

On Monday, Mtaa Wangu reported on Susan Wangari's journey in Naivasha to help uncircumcised men overcome the stigma through her boy-child empowerment programme, sparking significant public debate online.

At the top of the list is Monica Mwangi, who praised Ms Wangari for a job well done: "Mama Boyz Favourich Wisdom keep doing what you do best.

Claudine also praised her, noting that she deserves to be recognised, "We call her "Mama Boyz", she does such a good job that she often doesn't get the much needed recognition".

Others like Elsy Gitakaa asked, "And why aren't they circumcised if they are of the required age?"

Ondijo David disagreed, saying, "Cultures should be respected, I don't think removing the foreskin under anaesthetic makes you more of a man. It is much less painful than having six teeth knocked out of your jaw without an anaesthetic.

Wandya Josie had a question for Ms Wangari: "How does she know they're not circumcised?..or do they flush it out like 'yooooooooo uncut!

On his side, Geoffrey Sigei asks, "What are uncircumcised men doing in Naivasha?"

Sam Ondongo seemed agitated by Ms Wangari's work, claiming that she is only chasing donors: "How are uncircumcised men affecting her life? She's just chasing the donor money. She should focus on her boyfriend or husband.

Ray Mugambi was concerned about why people are raising issues about circumcision, noting that it is a thing of the past and people shouldn't be stigmatised, "Is it really a stigma to be uncircumcised, who cares if a man is circumcised, we are past that era".
