One dead in white house estate road crash

One person has died following an accident that occurred in White house area, along Nakuru -Nyahururu Highway on Monday evening, involving six motor vehicles, leaving several injured.

According to the Nakuru Sub-County Police commander Mohamed Wako, six among the 14 involved in the accident were seriously injured.

Mr Wako says the injured are receiving treatment at the Nakuru County Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The accident involved two lorries, a Toyota corolla belonging to high view driving school, a private van, matatu belonging to 3NS Sacco, and another Toyota corolla.

According to Mr. Wako, the lorry was heading towards Nakuru town from Solai general direction but upon reaching Whitehouse, its breaks failed, causing it to hit the vehicles.

“One passenger died while a driver and six passengers were seriously injured. Seven passengers sustained minor injuries. They were all rushed to the hospital and are undergoing treatment.  The body was moved to the same facility, awaiting identification and post mortem,” he says.

Residents who first responded at the scene were swift to help the injured before police officers arrived, while others milled around the accident scene.

The wreckage was towed to the Central police station awaiting inspection.
