Njoro Member of Parliament Charity Kathambi has warned staff at the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) against extorting parents.
The MP pointed out that public officers should observe integrity and honesty while serving the public.
Speaking during the launch of a Sh52 million bursary kitty meant to benefit thousands of students in the constituency, Ms Kathambi said any officer found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.
The second-term lawmaker was categorical that no parent should be asked to pay any money in exchange for a bursary and urged that such cases be reported to her office immediately.
“My office is not for extortion and if you are here and you are thinking of such then you will be sacked. We want to remain true to the people we have an obligation to serve,” she said.
Concerning short courses, the MP announced that a bursary covering these will be launched after public participation is conducted.
Under Njoro NG-CDF, short courses in driving, electrical and wiring, beauty and catering services for youth have been introduced.
