Nakuru State House gets Sh 200 million facelift amid ongoing works

The renovation of Nakuru state house are nearing completion with the National Assembly Administration and Internal Security Committee conducting an inspection visit on September 16.

According to a statement on the Parliament of Kenya official Facebook page, the purpose of the visit was to assess the progress and actual completion status of the ongoing refurbishment works at the facility.

“State House Hospitality Manager, Mr. Julius Kiptoo, outlined several challenges facing the Nakuru State House including structural and technical uncertainties, security vulnerabilities and budgetary constraints,” read part of the post.

Mr. Kiptoo noted that the issue of leakages must be urgently addressed.

The Committee chaired by Gabriel Tongoyo also toured the site to get a first-hand view of the refurbishment works.

In an article published by Daily Nation, on May 17, 2024 the renovation of presidential residences located in various parts of the country, which started in July 2015, is expected to consume sh. 11.5 billion by the end of 2026 /27 financial year. 

“According to State House Comptroller, Katoo Ole Metito, Sh. 200 million will be required for the refurbishment of building at the Nakuru State House and presently the refurbishment of Nakuru State House stands at 31 per cent (this was as at March 31, 2024),” read part of the article.
