Nakuru residents to get easy access to government services as the county gets four new administrative units

Nakuru residents will now be able to enjoy easy access to government services after the establishment of four new administrative divisions in the county.
The new administrative divisions, including Lakeview in Nakuru Town East Constituency, will raise the county's total number of divisions to 38.
Nakuru County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara confirmed the development, revealing that a new Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) has already been deployed to Lakeview Division, with the rest of the administrative team expected to join soon.
The establishment of new divisions follows a rigorous public participation process, which, according to Kibaara, involves community consultations where "minutes are done, public participation is forwarded" before the national government approves the creation of new administrative units.
Multiple factors informed the decision to create these divisions, including distance from existing administrative centers, which emerged as a primary concern, alongside population growth and proximity challenges.
"There is the issue of population, then the proximity. Then the people asked for more administrative units, one of which was one of them. Then the issue is with security issues—among many, many other parameters," Kibaara outlines.
Each new division comes with a comprehensive security apparatus. The County Commissioner confirms that the divisions will have full executive setups, including an Officer Commanding Station (OCS), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers, and Administration Police command.
This means Nakuru County now has dedicated OCSs and DCI officers across all 38 divisions, significantly bolstering security presence in previously underserved areas.
The creation of the Lakeview Division has triggered significant administrative changes. Manyani has been elevated to sub-location status and will have its own assistant chief, while Kivumbini has been upgraded to full location status.
Beyond Lakeview, three other divisions have been established, which include Hell's Gate in Naivasha, Nyota in Kuresoi North, and Kiptagich in Olengoruone.
Kibaara notes that these areas face similar developmental challenges. In Naivasha, for instance, "the population and the distance from one administrative unit to the other become very handy," he says, adding that the same applies to Kiptagich and Nyota.
However, he acknowledges that urban areas present unique complexities.
"Town dynamics are very diverse because of the population. When you look at the town, for a very long time, you may go to a municipality that covers all the way to Lanet, all the way to town," the County Commissioner observes.
Interestingly, the county had anticipated that more divisions would be created. "We even expected more, but now only four came," Kibaara reveals.
The expansion from 34 to 38 divisions represents a significant administrative milestone for Nakuru County.
