Nakuru man charged with 37 counts of defilement
A branch manager of a real estate company was today charged with 37 counts relating to defilement of 10 children before a Nakuru court.
Jackson Njoroge is facing charges ranging from defilement, committing indecent acts with a child, sexual assault, child pornography and child prostitution.
Jackson is believed to have carried out these atrocious crimes in the areas of Lake View and Naka Estate which are in the larger Nakuru East Sub County.
Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Emmanuel Soita he denied all the 37 counts that were laid against him.
The prosecution opposed granting of bail to the accused citing that the 42-year-old had been brought to the station by angry residents and therefore considering the public outrage against him, his release on bond poses a significant threat to his safety.
Also according to an affidavit by the Investigation Officer Lawrence Okoth, Jackson Njoroge has been described as a habitual offender, with previous criminal records.
Some of the cases he is facing include defilement, a criminal case of the abduction of a 17-year-old girl and attempted rape at the Mutomo Law Courts.
With regard to the defilement case, the court heard that is was dismissed since the witnesses were compromised.
"Also we recovered a mobile phone and in the initial screening managed to reveal 92,152 images, among which depicted minors believed to be victims of sexual exploitation. Further forensic analysis is required to analyse and trace these victims, a process that necessitates the accused to remain in custody" reads part of the affidavit.
The suspect will remain remanded in prison and appear in court on December 2, 2024, for a pre bail hearing.
