Nakuru’s vibrant digital scene is set to gain continental recognition as fast-rising content creator Elvis Mushila prepares to attend the African Social Media Influencers Summit (ASMIS) 2026 on May 7 and 8, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Mushila, a household name in Nakuru thanks to his viral street comedy skits, described the opportunity as a major milestone in his creative journey.
Speaking during an interview, he notes that the summit will provide a platform to connect with fellow creatives across Africa while sharpening his business acumen.
“This is a chance to network with other creatives from across the continent, but most importantly to learn how to maximize better and capitalize on income as a creative in Africa,” he says.
With millions of followers across TikTok and Facebook, Mushila has carved out a unique niche through his signature “silent comedy” a style that transcends language barriers and appeals to diverse audiences.
Often spotted running through town in a white dress, black blazer, clown face, and wig, his unpredictable street performances have become both a spectacle and a brand.
Beyond the humor, Mushila’s story reflects determination and reinvention. Initially on a path in the nursing profession, he made the bold decision to pursue content creation full-time, a move that has since paid off as he continues to grow his influence within Nakuru and Kenya’s digital economy.
His journey began in 2019 while he was a Form Three student at Langa Langa Secondary School. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when schools were shut down, Mushila turned to content creation as a way to stay engaged.
“That’s when I hit the streets of Nakuru,” he recalls a decision that would eventually shape his career.
Today, he ranks among the top YouTubers in Nakuru, boasting over 170,000 subscribers and a steadily growing audience. His content not only entertains but also reflects everyday experiences, making him relatable to many young Africans navigating similar realities.
As he heads to ASMIS 2026, Mushila carries with him not just his brand, but the aspirations of a new generation of African creatives eager to turn passion into sustainable livelihoods.
