Minor suspected of killing toddler to be held for seven days

Detectives in Bahati police station have been allowed to hold a 17-year-old, suspected of killing a toddler, for 21 days to allow for investigations.
The murder of the three-year-old girl Margaret Wanjiru occurred on June 22.
In an affidavit presented before court, the investigating officer said they require the additional time to be able to carry out mental assessment of the minor.
Additionally, an age examination needs to be carried out as well.
The court was also told that the CCTV footage had not been retrieved for data mining, analysis and certification.
The horrific murder which occurred within the confines PCEA Bahati church left the congregants and resident at large dumbfounded.
The matter will be mentioned on July 3,2025.
