Migaa Blackspot: 14 lives lost last year, another 14 today in fatal road accident

Fourteen people have been confirmed dead following a road accident that occurred at 2am on March 14 at Migaa black spot on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
The accident occurred when an 11-seater Kitale shuttle bus travelling to Nairobi was hit from behind by a truck travelling in the same direction.

The fourteen people killed include eight men, five women and a minor. This comes a few months after a similar fatal accident happened at the notorious black spot claiming 14 lives.
Timon Odingo, the Molo sub-county police commander, confirmed the incident.
When Mtaa Wangu visited the notorious black spot last year all was well on the steep up and down gradients along the Salgaa stretch.

New Jersey barriers meant to separate the known (marked) black spot area lay at the side of the road, as one section of the road remains without the same barricades, while others are chipped and grazed from the impact of large vehicles hitting them.
Although efforts have been made to reduce the number of accidents along the notorious stretch of road, which has claimed many lives in the past, these two incidents, barely a year apart, seems to be regaining its bad reputation.
