Residents of Freehold estate were shocked today after a decomposing body was found in a bush near Kenyatta Primary School.

One of the residents Mr. Boniface Juma says that a street child was the one who told them that there was a body in the bushes.

"When the boy informed us of the body, we did not believe him, but he was very persistent so we decided to take a look and it was at that point that we realized he was telling the truth," he said.

Juma said the residents immediately called the police who came in and removed the body.

"The police also had a very difficult time getting the body out of the thicket. From what we could see the body had been there for a very long time since it was not recognisable," he said.

Lucy Njeri who is also a resident urged the county administration to clear the bush saying the thicket could quickly turn into a dumping site for people who commit murder.

According to Martin Wekesa the OCPD Nakuru East the body which was  identified as a  male adult was in a sack.

Mr Wekesa said that preliminary reports point to a possibility of the person having been killed elsewhere before the body was dumped in the thicket

"Right now all we can do is to run the fingerprints of the deceased through the system and see what comes up,” he added.

He noted that if any person  turns up and wants to claim the body the police will first have to do a DNA test to confirm.
