On Wednesday night at around 8.30 pm, a woman who owns an MPESA shop near Ngata bridge was attacked by unknown assailants who robbed her shop and made away with goods.
Multiple witnesses have confirmed to Mtaa Wangu that the two assailants who were armed with a gun dragged the woman out of the shop and started beating her up outside the shop.
Seeing the commotion, a young man who was passing by ran towards the shop shouting at the two to stop.
Alarmed, one of the robbers fatally shot the good samaritan, killing him on the spot
The duo then made away on a motorbike.
The woman who was seriously injured was rushed to Nakuru teaching and referral hospital and is recuperating. The man who was killed was taken to Nakuru county mortuary.
Residents who spoke to Mtaa Wangu say they heard a loud bang at around the time the incident is said to have occured.
A police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorised to speak to the media says the police suspect it could be the same gang that has been terrorizing Pipeline residents in the recent weeks.
“The description we have been given of the people, the gun they used and mode of operation is the same as the group in Pipeline,” the source says.
County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara confirmed the incident saying, "These individuals have commited several robberies in the pipeline area there, they fatally shot two individuals. We believe they are the same ones who carried out yesterday's incident at Ngata Bridge because they have a similar modus operandi (a way of doing something). We are carrying out investigations into the matter," he concluded.
