Malinda drops finance docket, heads back to Nakuru county assembly

Outgoing Chief officer FInance Joseph Malinda
Chief Officer for Finance, Joseph Mutua Malinda, has been officially released from his position in the Nakuru County Executive to take up a new role at the County Assembly of Nakuru.
Prior to his appointment as chief officer, Malinda was the clerk at the County assembly.
This move marks the latest development in a wave of personnel changes reshaping Nakuru County’s leadership since Governor Susan Kihika took office.
Nakuru County has witnessed several changes in personnel serving within executive and administrative roles.
Notable among these shifts is the resignation of Chief Officer for Sports, Pastor Alex Maina, who had previously transitioned from the docket of Resource Mobilization.
Additionally, the Health Executive docket saw a change with Jacqueline Osoro being replaced by the current officeholder, Roselyne Mungai. Osoro now serves as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Public Service, Training, and Devolution.
Malinda’s release was confirmed in a letter dated April 25, 2025, authored by Dr. Samuel Mwaura, the County Secretary and Head of Public Service.
The move follows an earlier letter referenced as NKR.C./COF/CONF/VOL.1(82), dated March 11, 2025, and was supported by communication from the Chairperson of the County Assembly Public Service Board.
According to the official directive, Malinda is expected to transition immediately and formally hand over his responsibilities to the County Executive Committee Member for Finance and Economic Planning.
"The county government expresses its appreciation for your service, support, and contributions to the County Executive," reads part of the letter.
The letter further indicates this transition has been officially communicated to the Governor, Deputy Governor, and the Speaker of the County Assembly of Nakuru.
With Malinda now stepping into a legislative role, attention turns to who will be appointed to fill the finance docket and how his expertise in financial management will shape deliberations and policy decisions within the County Assembly.
